Acme Blues Company Nominated For 2006 Wammie Award

5 January 2007, Washington DC -- The Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) announced that it has nominated Acme Blues Company's latest release, "I Think I Made It," for a 2006 Wammie Award in the category of Best Blues/Traditional R&B Recording.

WAMA's annual awards, which honor outstanding musicians in DC, Virginia and Maryland, will be presented on February 18th, 2006, in ceremonies at the State Theater in Falls Church, Virginia.

"We are elated to be recognized among the many outstanding artists from the DC area," said Waverly Milor, Acme's vocalist and harp player.  "2006 was a terrific year for the band, and the Wammie nomination is a huge honor for us."

The album's twelve original songs span a range of blues flavors and styles, with many of the numbers favoring upbeat and dance-friendly grooves.  Released in June 2006, the CD has received airplay on local radio stations as well as internationally on various Internet stations.  Discs have sold briskly at the band's performances, and are also available online.  More information may be found on the web:  www.AcmeBluesCompany.com
